This week was sooooo busy! So it started with a zone conference on Wednesday and then splits with ward missionaries on Thursday and exchanges Friday and Saturday. Also really intense rain on Saturday. Like Really Bad rain. Not even my heavy duty raincoat could cope. We had to go back halfway through the day to get changed and I ended up buying an umbrella because I never want to experience that horror again.
On Wednesday was zone conference and elder Moreira (from the 70) was touring the mission. He's super funny and taught us mostly about faith and repentance. He talked about how you can go through the motions of the gospel but you won't feel the gospel until you truly repent. True repentance isn't saying sorry, it is changing your thoughts, actions, habits, and beliefs. We can all change our thoughts, habits, and actions if we allow ourselves to be self disciplined enough but to change our beliefs(and desires) can only come through prayer to our heavenly father.
When he was talking, elder Moreria shared a story about how after his mission he didn't really know what he wanted or who he was. He figured the best way to find that out was to go to his heavenly father and find out. He spent the whole day praying and going over his patriarchal blessing and the scriptures, and ay the end of the day he asked heavenly father who He (God) wanted him to be. He got his answer and his life has never been better. Even through rain and shine (and poverty and riches) he said that he never doubted God's love and trust in him.
I really want to encourage everyone here to repent daily (we all need to) and to ask heavenly father who he wants us to be? I love ya'll and can't wait to see (some) of you in 9 months!
The funny stuff:
Every day I feel like like I'm becoming more and more like my mom, but every night when I take off my watch and look at my watch tan, I realize that I'm still a lot like my dad. *(I asked Haley what she meant that she's becoming more like me and she emailed that she's starting to say some of the things I always nagged her about like "You can choose to be happy, do your work first before you play, etc" I had a good laugh over that one! ha!)
I hadn't bought pomegranates in a while and occasionally the elders or sisters will go to our flat to get the street display stuff, and they always steal my food. Well the zone leaders grew quite used to their weekly handful of pomegranate seeds and elder casidebari was very concerned when I didn't have any pomegranates last week.
I'm trying to break my habit of picking my hair so I asked sister paschen to help. Now she slaps my hand every time I touch my hair, and I'm not allowed to get annoyed bc I asked her to do this.
I'm so emotional now. Sister paschen loves the doctrine and covenant videos and watches one like every morning. I always sob a bit when I see the Pioneer ones.
Sister paschen is unable to walk in a straight line but she also wants me to always walk next to her. I keep getting pushed into walls or bushes
I had a very vivid nightmare of elder casidebari. In it he was a serial killer and I saw him with one of his victims and had to help hide the body. Later on, every time he said "you OK" in his Italian accent, it meant he got another victim and I had to cover it up. I was legit scared of him for like two days. He thought it was really funny when i told him
The music standards for our mission was changed from hymbook only to hymbook and sacred choir which means I can now sing efy music and not get told off. The next step now is to get president to approve Disney
When we had exchanges with the stls and we were at their flat, sister paschen opened the back door to go out and this cat ran inside. His name is gidean and he lives in the neighborhood. Apparently he always jumps in if the window is open too. He chilled with us most of the morning. I also got him to chase my watch (and now I have scratches on my hand, playing with Jess is a lot easier). *(funny thing! Haley emailed me before she sent me her weekly email, that she had some pictures of a flat cat. I assumed she was talking about a dead cat and asked why she would be sending me pictures of that! She replied that it wasn't dead, it was a cat that was hanging around their flat (Apartment). hahaha!! Flat cat!)
