The night before Haley flew to England, she was set apart as a full time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. She was set apart by our wonderful Stake President, President Witt. President Witt gave her a beautiful blessing and I know the words he spoke were not his, and they were from our Heavenly Father. As soon as we got back in the car to go home, I quickly wrote down my feelings and what I could remember about the blessing. This is what I wrote.
As soon as President Witt places his hands on Haley's head, I felt the spirit so strong. President Witt Paused for what felt like a full minute or so before he started speaking. Haley was blessed with Confidence, and to have confidence as she serves. She was blessed that she has the ability and talent to learn and have knowledge of the scriptures. (This is so true for Haley! She is a mini scriptorian) She was blessed with physical health and that she'll have the ability to serve as she needs to. She was blessed to get along with her companions and to have patience. She was blessed to have patience. She was told to listen to the spirit as she teaches, that she will be prompted to speak often, but to listen to the spirit to help her know when she should speak up and when she shouldn't yet. She was blessed that the England Manchester Mission was the exact mission she was supposed to be called to, that even if her assignment changes, that at this time, this is the exact right call for her. (Haley has said that she has a feeling her assignment might change at some point. Not sure exactly what she means or what will happen, but it will be interesting to see.) She was blessed that she was called specifically to be with her mission president, and that she would have a special relationship with him and his wife, and that she should listen to their council to her. (This rang so true for me. Haley is often a bit of a "teachers pet". Leaders love her and she loves her leaders. I can absolutely see her having a special relationship with her mission pres and his wife. The most profound impression I felt as I listened to her blessing was that Heavenly father knows her well. That she is my daughter her on earth, but that she is HIS daughter first and that he loves her and knows just what she needs. Needless to say, it was a wonderful blessing. Haley also went home and wrote her feelings in her journal as soon as we got home. I hope someday she lets me read that excerpt in her journal.)
Before we went with Haley for her appt with Pres Witt, we went to dinner at our favorite place Tokyo Steakhouse. This picture makes me laugh. Haley is enjoying her last moments having a phone for the next 18 months.
The Sister missionaries have been amazing and Haley has loved going out with them often before she left. Sisters Vogel and Eastman stopped by to say goodbye to Haley before she flew out the next morning.
